CONSULTANCY

Every year I consult on roughly twenty competitive routines. Being an ICU certified judge, I have a solid understanding of what the judges will be looking for and how scoresheets work. This allows me to help athletes perform the given choreography to the best of their ability.

Whether it's to spruce up a section, lay out performance advice or make it squeaky clean, one of the best things you can do for a competition routine is get another pair of eyes on it.

Consultancy sessions are always based around the needs of the team and coach. Let me know exactly what you're looking for, and I'll do my best to deliver.

It was clear from her comments that Maddie had an extensive amount of knowledge and is able to pinpoint specifics in routines that would be areas to max out on the score sheet at competition. In just 3 short hours, Maddie made this team a lot stronger and more confident through ensuring each section of the routine was drilled and cleaned, as well as highlighting areas the judges would pinpoint. Maddie continued to support our team and played a part in our successful results at the competition, where we not only won University Nationals but also All-Star Nationals at BCA.

FAQ's

1. How long does it take?

How long is a piece of string? Consultancy sessions can be as short as an hour for a solo or two hours for a team. The length of time really depends on what you hope to gain from the session.

2. What age groups do you work with?

Most of the consultancy I do is for junior or senior age groups, though I am happy to work with younger athletes too.

3. Will you change the choreography?

Not unless you'd like me to! If you think your routine needs an extra pop, I'll try to tweak as necessary. If you'd rather I left everything in, just let me know.

4. Why do you need to know what competitions we'll be going to?

It's really important to me to be able to fully support the programmes I work with. For that reason, I limit the number of routines which I work on in every division and try to limit the number of times they compete against each other. I also have to avoid conflicts of interest when working in a judging capacity. Lastly, I'd love to come along and support!

5. How involved will you be? Will you come to warm up?

I can be as involved as you'd like me to be. Some programmes only want a few hours of consultancy, some want year-round support both on and off the mat. I'm happy to do either!

6. What do you need to know prior to coming in?

Not much! Let me know exactly what you're hoping to get out of the session and I'll do my very best to help.
